The first thing any tourist will notice when they exit the Aeroport, is the continuing forest which stretches across the horizon. The air is fresh and clean, unlike the industrial United States. The rolling hills relax your eyes from the harsh metal buildings of other nations.
No matter where you visit in our peaceful nation you'll be at peace. Even our capital, and largest city, New York, is a quiet get away from the outside world. You'll always be greeted with smiles and laughter. The beauty of nature surrounds you.
If you are a first time visitor from the South or West, make sure you know more than just English. In the CSNE, we have over ten different languages from the Native New Englander tribes. The major Native New Englander language is Mohawkian, and is easy to learn. You can pick a booklet on Mohawkian at any of the local stores in our wonderful nation. And don't worry about money, we accept all times of monetary units, ranging from the dollar to beads.
We here in the CSNE hope you visit us soon. You'll have the most relaxing time of your life...
Note: Littering is illegal in the CSNE. Anyone caught littering will pay a find of 600 American dollars, or 1000 beads. If you're a first time visitor from the Confederate States of America or the United Western States, we wish to inform you that slaves are not allowed within our borders, and you will also not be allowed to enter either. Thank you and have a nice day.

The Republic of Texas: The Lone Star Nation |
|
©1999 Adam Garcia |
It has been said that the history of our nation would amaze
even the most learned of historians.
Over a hundred and fifty years ago our nation was founded. But
unlike our friends in the United States, our freedom was fought
for. Many is the times we have had to battle Mexico to keep ourselves
free; but each time, we won. But our history is not all war. Many
great men and woman have come from this nation. Such as our tenth
president Running Cloud, who finally brought peace between Texas
and Mexico through the Treaty at Washington. Another great man,
General George Bush, who single handly brought an end to the Second
World War with an Allied victory.
But our history isn't all modern history. Recently, Texan archeolgist have discovered "Mayan Temples" deep within the Yucatan. There are gigantic pyramids which contain amazing, and beautiful, carvings and paintings which have yet to be deciphered. No one knows what these carvings mean, and maybe you might decipher them your self!
When you visit us, you can go to the Ivory coasts of the Gulfs of Mexico, or swim in the sparkling waters of the Pacific. If your a history buff, you could visit our famous battle sites from the Texas-Mexican War, such as Buena Vista, or Molino del Rey. Or if you are the rustic type, visit our commonwealth, The Cherokee Nation. A rip to one of our capitals is also an exciting idea, watching over the Parliament in action.
Come join us here in the Lone Star Nation. The history of a thousand different people await you.
NOTES: We suggest all travellers use Texan Certified airlines, for protection for ground to air missles from South Mexican Rebels. We also suggest you bring a gun.

Harper's Ferry, Virginia |

Any visitor to this dimension will wish to visit the site where the Great Insurrection began. Visitors approaching Harper's Ferry from the Maryland side will be struck by how calm and gentle the surrounding countryside is and the marvelous job that has been done in restoring the site. For those that are not familiar with the history of the place, we strongly recommend the Liberator's Museum. In there you can see the full story of Jon Brown's heroic raid that began The Insurrection. Brown and his sons captured control of the arsenal at Harper's Ferry in October 1859. Brown had worked with abolitionists and free Africans throughout the North. Working with President-to-be Fredrick Douglas, Brown had established a network of agents throughout Virginia. They were to rise and move to Harper's Ferry when the signal was giving -- the famous "preachers speech" of the Sunday before the raid. With the arsenal secured, Fredrick Douglas and his small army of 125 "Negroes" arrived and were armed with pikes and muskets -- some bought by Brown others secured from the arsenal. Across Virginia, Africans rose up, often burned their "master's" homes, and in a few sad cases, murdered local white. In particular, the risings in the Tidewater area and around Richmond were extremely bloody. With his growing army, Brown and Douglas were soon able to secure Harper's Ferry as a base of operations. Visitors can see Brown's HQ and visit the "Black House" as local whites called it -- that is, Fredrick Douglas's office. Brown and Douglas, aided by thousands of ex-slaves streaming along the roads to Harper's Ferry were able to beat off militia attacks and the timid, confused response of the Federal government. The first Federal detachment under a descendent of the Revolutionary War hero, Light-Horse Harry Lee, R.E. Lee, was massacred by recently liberated ex-slaves with pikes when their train was stopped outside Leesberg. After that, the Bucchanan Administration dithered and panicked and allowed the initiative to slip to Brown and Douglas. Following their plans, the Insurrectionists divided their army into two -- Douglas stayed in Harper's Ferry organizing new recruits and sending the old, young, and informed North and Brown plunging South with the "Liberators" to free the South. Visitors might be interested in walking the Freedom Trail south through the mountains and following Brown's campaign. There are many interesting stop overs and might even wish to follow Brown into Georgia when he began his "March to the Sea." In Harper's Ferry, consider taking the walking tour around the restored sites -- the armory, the Freedman's building, the administration office. In the days that followed, Douglas gradually brought the chaos of the insurrection under control. The South, preoccupied with putting down revolts all over the region, was unable to respond. The North was deeply divided as to what to do and many Northerners heading south to aid Douglas, while other urged the Administration to support Southern state governments in putting down the Insurrection. In the end, the Federal Government did nothing until March 1860, when a hastily organized assault under General McCellen failed due to his detail and temporizing. As visitors will know, the Insurrection was to last another 2 years. At the end of it, the South, exhausted and weakened, voted overwhelming for the compromise Unity Party candidate of Abraham Lincoln. Visitors can see the stop where President Lincoln traveled to Harper's Ferry to meet Douglas and Brown in 1862 and gave his famous "the past shall not return" speech. Lincoln's far sited policy of reconstruction throughout the South calmed tensions between the races and led the election of he and Douglas in 1864 and Douglas himself in 1872. Harpers Ferry itself was largely destroyed by a fire in the waning stages of the insurrection when a detachment of the notorious Jefferson Guards under the outlaw Mosby raided the town in 1861. Mosby was of course hanged -- an exhibit shows viewers through his trial and asks them to face how they might have dealt with the what he saw as the terrible outrage of slave revolt. The town is now largely restored thanks to supports throughout the New African South (for off-world visitors, this area was created in the former African majority states of the Deep South) -- the economic powerhouse of the nation. Harpers Ferry is a great day out and a reminder of man's eternal fight against opposition and injustice. |
The North American Technate |

In 1938 the United States economy despite a series of projects to stabilize it, such as President Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal." The Technocracy Movement managed to wrest control of the former United States, despite efforts by such counter-revolutionary groups as the Communist Party of the USA and the Republicans. Chief Director Howard Scott seized control of industry and agriculture and created a centralized, but consumer-oriented, economy.
Canada was incorporated into the Technate in 1942, following the collapse of the British Empire during the Second World War. Canadian Technocrats convinced parliament that the choice was one of economic symbiosis in the Technate or total domination by a victorious Third Reich. The Combined Forces of the Technate moved into the former colonies of the Caribbean in order to integrate them into the "Total Economic Unit (TEU)," and to prevent Hitler from using them as bases. Later, Mexico and the Central American countries would be included in the "Outer Economic Sphere," but were incorporated in the TEU in 1961.
A three-way Cold War broke out in the 1950s between the Technate, the Third Reich, and the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. The Technate's invention of the Atomic Bomb in 1955 gave them the edge, an advantage they tried to maintain through technology and innovative military doctrine. The Third Reich attempted to maintain an armed posture capable of rapid, crippling attack, and Japan's GEACPS had sheer manpower with which to dominate. Efforts were made by the three superpowers to win control of Siberia (which ended up under Japanese control), Africa (Dominated by Germany since 1949), and Australia (neutral by the mutual agreement of the Technate and Japan). A Third World War almost broke out in 1966 when Germany and Japan attempted to send forces to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. Land, Sea, and Air Forces of the Technate managed to thwart this rare show of Axis Cooperation just short of all-out war.
In theory, no one can run for office in the Technate. People who wish to govern must take an aptitude test, and only those with a high level of intelligence are permitted to become "Doctors of Social Engineering." Computers select the post most suitable for a candidate, which could be Chief of Animal Control in Nome or Director of the Central Region, depending on what the computer says. However, the selection of Director-in-Chief has been a political process orchestrated by the Technocratic Party elite. Most Citizens will tell you Carl Sagan was the best leader the Party has produced in years.
Technologically, the Technate is much more advanced than the other two superpowers, having achieved fusion power and manned missions to the Moon and Mars. However, computer technology lags somewhat behind that of Earth Prime.
Economically, almost every person has a car or a motorcycle. Most housing is in the form of apartments, but individual homes can also be had, with enough effort. Inheritance is illegal, with property reverting to the State upon the death of the citizen. Everyone works a four-day week, seven hours a day.
When visiting the Technate, be sure to see the Atomic Canal and the Silver Tower in Chicago. The Silver Tower skyscraper is the administrative headquarters of the Technate.
New York, City of Darkened Behemoths |

When the power went off in the Chatham Islands at Midnight, 1/1/2000, and as the Pacific, Asia, Africa and Europe fell under the encroaching darkness, Ruldolph Giuliani instituted martial law to control riots. Many, many people left for the country, and street wars soon broke out over water and food. When the power did go off, the chaos was unbelievable.
But we survived. Despite the anarchy and destruction that has engulfed the rest of the country and the world, now we are one of the few fuctioning cities left.
While there is much to see in New York, here are a couple things you won't find on your homeworld:
The Oasis: The city's lifeline, the result of the hard work of many dedicated citizens. Without it we would surely perish.
The Missle: An unexploded Russian thermonuclear weapon sticking out of the side of an apartment building.
We hope to welcome you to New York soon. Any donations of batteries, water, food or medicine would be appreciated.
Warning: Outside the city limits, and even just outside the Guiliani sphere of influence in Manhattan, may be too dangerous to travel through. Anarchists, Gangs and unpredictable offshoots of the former US military are rampant in such areas. Travel in such areas is at your own risk.
Buster for President! |

During his two terms as President, Keaton led his nation out of the Great Depression (through his massive Federal programs which expanded the movie industry and other American economic centers) and to victory over Hitler in the Second Great War.
President Keaton liked to meet other world leaders in person, claiming that he could keep a straight face through any negotiation. The "Old Stone Face" kept the Germans and the Japanese guessing throughout the 30s. What will always stay in people's mind is the moment he slapped Hitler in the face with a lemon cream pie at Munich, thus forcing the Fuhrer to initiate a war prematurely, in order to save face. Unlike the bloodbath of 1914-18, the Second Great War was over by 1941.
It is amazing how few people remember President "Fatty" Arbuckle, the man Keaton succeeded when he choked to death on a carp.
