The sound of a stopwatch ticks off in the television screen, its
silent black background giving the ticking noise greater power. Suddenly,
a male voice with a Midwestern tweed accent narrates the various video
images being broadcasted on the screen.
The first clip shows a portly man in his late sixties, long
graying sideburns and an expensive-looking dark blue suit; he stands there
waving his hand whose fingers are laced with heavy gold rings, to a crowd
of hundreds. Behind him were his wife, a beautiful elderly blond with a
cute smile. Next to him is a more built, athletic looking man who in
contrast, is much younger. Balloons and banners fly out as the crowd
cheers him on.
"The latest polling data has given his ratings a slight edge over
his opponent. A popularity not seen since the end of the Reagan 70's.
Tonight, our very own Maury Shaffer interviews Republican presidential
nominee, Senator Elvis Presley and his wife, Marilyn Presley. The former
King of Rock N Roll, now Senator from Mississippi who controls the
all-powerful Ways and Means Committee, says he's got what it takes to
bring on reform to our country."
A close up of Senator Presley covers much of the screen. His
slightly tinted glasses fail to cover up the bags and wrinkles around his
eyes. When he speaks, his thick southern accent draws attention.
"So Mr. Senator, what do you want to do, if you win the
Presidency?" a black gentlemen with a gray beard, who seems to have
an
inquisitive look asks.
"Well Maury, there's lots to be done. We hav'ta get our boys out
of that blood bath in Spain and China, that's one thing. This war we
been in for the last twenty years is killin the country. We have to
bring back the Constitution, which has been suspended for the last ten
years, since old President Fonda declared martial law when they nuked
Baltimore. The people want freedom!" Senator Presley replied.
Once again, the narrator speaks,
"The road to the presidency will be a tough one, and his
challenger, Vice President Ted Kennedy, is determined to keep on with the
twenty-year Democratic control of the White House. What could hurt
Senator Presley, is his Vice Presidential candidate, Representative Joe
Montana from San Fransisco. Soft spoken, pundents claim that he doesn't
stand a chance against the fire brand senator from Ohio, Glen Close."
Suddenly the scenes change from political jovialiness, to terror
and dread. Scenes showing gray cities with fenced-in barb wire, dotted
with watch towers, depict a totalitarian regime. Quick camera angles,
showing sad-looking people in drab clothing, fear in their eyes, walking
down dark concrete streets. On some of the walls of the buildings, are
giant paintings of several stern-looking youths, the caption under their
portrait saying LIBERATORS. Waving violently on the guard towers, and
draped over the front entrances of some of the taller buildings, large red
flags with a picture of a black scarab with a yellow star.
"Tonight, war correspondent, Wolf Blitzer takes us behind the Iron
Curtain! To the city of London, capitol of Oceania, the world's first
Communist regime. You, the viewer will get a peak of this bleak uncaring
country. Thirty-two years ago, when the country was once known as the
United Kingdom, was overthrown by the Red Skarab, lead by John Lenin. The
nation, which was recovering from the Second World War, was primed for
instability, opportunity was taken by the Marxist movement. From the video
cameras watching every street corner, and tales of secret police dragging
whole families to execution, have the populace stripped of their rights.
Three days ago, in the UN building in New York, Czar Nicholas the IV,
complained about the atrocities Oceania was doing to Germany and Spain.
From stories of concentration camps in Ireland and Belgium, to horror
stories in occupied-France, we will see why our boys are fighting the Reds
in Spain. With Imperial Russia sending armaments to the eastern front in
Germany, and American forces fighting against Oceannian forces in Spain,
will the Third World War end like the second, in a nuclear fallout?"
The scene blanks out, then goes to a panel of journalists,
"October 12th, 1996.
This is Maury Shaffer; Walter Kronkite; Ted Koppel; Koki
Roberts; Dan Rather; and editorial by Rush Limbaugh, here on
Sixty-Minutes!"

The sound of a stopwatch ticks off in the television screen, its
silent black background giving the ticking noise greater power.
Suddenly, a male voice with a Midwestern tweed accent narrates the various
video images being broadcasted on the screen.
Sitting on a Louis the XXIV chair, a slender young lady in her
mid-thirties, sits patiently. She has a serious look about her, as if she
has a great story to tell. The narrator continues on.
"Ten years ago, the media vaunted their marriage as a matched made
in heaven. They looked as if they were the happiest couple on Earth.
Indeed, hundreds of millions from both sides of the Atlantic, always had
the subject of the royal couple on their gossip lists. Their wild parties
that they through, and the occasional media expose took our minds off the
horror around the world.
Four years ago, their marriage, which united to great empires,
seemed at its peak when Princess Jessica gave birth to Harold and David.
But, as history unfolded, tragedy happened, which later proved to be a
factor in the now-failed marriage. While visiting the Pope in the Vatican
in Brazil, spies working for the Irish Liberation Front, had managed to
kidnap the to royal heirs. Later, after an intensive global search by
forces from both empires, the bodies of both children were found in a ILF
base in the Sahara. The loss of Prince Charles and Princess Jessica
children, brought both anger and sadness to the two great imperial powers
of the world. In her time of mourning though, it would turn out that
Prince Charles was cheating on Princess Jessica.
While she was nearly sent to a hospital after a nervous breakdown
in 94, Prince Charles secretly flew to Oslo, to meet his mistress. The
release of this news brought cries of treachery in the American House of
Lords, while in London, they remained quiet. Things had worsened, when
the royal couple fought while on a trip to New Delhi, when the Prince
Charles nearly killed Princess Jessica. Duchess Alicia Franklin of
Virginia tended to the Princess, while both governments were trying to
patch up the pieces. Alas though, two weeks ago, the Royal couple
finalized their divorce, and in that trouble came. In a hasty move, both
Parliaments nullified all treaties. Now tensions are rising in the
Atlantic and Pacific, as merchant vessels from both empires are being
mistreated, leading to small skirmishes. While Queen Elizabeth in London
spoke about stopping American trade routes in the North Atlantic, our King
Maxwell proclaimed that he is willing to give permit to the Royal American
Navy in using tactical nuclear weapons against British fleets in the Pacific.
Tonight, we talk to our beloved Princess, to see how she is coping
with the crises. As both the Union of Royal States of America, and Great
Britain are on the verge of a Second World War, we will find out from the
Princess, how the Royal Family might be handling the situation."
The screen returns to the image of a stop watch, then a gallery of
journalist appear,
"This is Sixty Minutes for March the 3rd, of the Year of Our
Lord, Nineteen-Hundred and Ninety-Six." Images of the various journalists
pop up, " I'm Maury Shaffer; I'm Andy Rooney' I'm Barbara Walters; and I'm
George Cloony, welcoming you to our show, later on, we'll have our
commentary by our very own John Kennedy."
